TRNAVA, Sep. 1, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Slovakia defeated Slovenia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Anton Malatinsky Stadium in Trnava.
Slovenia made the Slovaks doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Mevlja into his own net with just 9 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Slovak second in Group F with 15 points. Slovenia is fourth with 11 points. In their next game, Slovakia will meet group leaders England at the Anton Malatinsky Stadium on September 4, while Slovenia will face Lithuania.
