World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Malta and Lithuania tied at 1-1
TA' QALI, Oct. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Malta tied 1-1 with Lithuania (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Ta' Qali National Stadium.
The Malteses started off well by taking the lead thanks to Agius in the 23rd minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Lithuania with a saving goal from Lithuanian midfielder Vykintas Slivka in the 53rd minute.
The result put the Lithuanians 5th in Group F with 6 points. Malta is bottom with one point. In their last game, Lithuania will meet group leaders England at the Ta' Qali National Stadium on October 8, while Malta will face Slovakia.
