SKOPJE, Oct. 6, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Israel defeated Macedonia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Philip II Arena in Skopje.
Israel dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hemed ('25) and Ben Haim II ('43). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Israelians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Israelians fourth in Group G with 3 points. Macedonia is 5th with no points. In their next game, Israel will meet Liechtenstein at the Philip II Arena on October 9, while Macedonia will face Italy.
