World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Italy beats Macedonia 3-2
SKOPJE, Oct. 9, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Italy defeated Macedonia by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Philip II Arena in Skopje.
Ciro Immobile scored dual goals
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Andrea Belotti in the 24th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Immobile '75, '90).
The result put the Italians second in Group G with 7 points. Macedonia is 5th with no points. In their next game, Italy will meet Liechtenstein at the Philip II Arena on November 12, while Macedonia will face Spain.
