ELBASAN, Nov. 12, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Israel defeated Albania by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at the Elbasan Arena.
Israel dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Zahavi in the 18th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Israelians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Einbinder '66 and Atar '83).
The result put the Israelians third in Group G with 9 points. Albania is fourth with 6 points. In their next game, Israel will meet group leaders Spain at the Elbasan Arena on March 24, while Albania will face Italy.
