World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Italy defeats Albania 2-0
PALERMO, Mar. 24, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Italy defeated Albania by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Stadio Renzo Barbera in Palermo.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the 12th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Immobile with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Italians second in Group G with 13 points. Albania is fourth with 6 points. In their next game, Italy will meet Liechtenstein at the Stadio Renzo Barbera on June 11, while Albania will face Israel.
