World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Italy beats Liechtenstein 5-0
UDINE, Jun. 11, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Italy defeated Liechtenstein by a big score of 5-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Stadio Friuli in Udine.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Lorenzo Insigne in the 35th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Belotti '52, Éder '75, Bernardeschi '83 and Gabbiadini '90).
The result put the Italians second in Group G with 16 points. Liechtenstein is bottom with no points. In their next game, Italy will meet group leaders Spain at the Stadio Friuli on September 2, while Liechtenstein will face Albania.
