SKOPJE, Jun. 11, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Spain defeated Macedonia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Philip II Arena in Skopje.
Spain dominated the first half thanks to goals from Silva ('15) and Costa ('27). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Spaniards further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Spaniard top of Group G with 16 points. Macedonia is 5th with 3 points. In their next game, Spain will meet second-placed Italy at the Philip II Arena on September 2, while Macedonia will face Israel.
