World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Italy and Macedonia play out 1-1 draw
TURIN, Oct. 6, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Italy tied 1-1 with Macedonia (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Olympic stadium in Turin.
The Italians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in the 40th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Macedonia with a saving goal from Trajkovski in the 77th minute.
The result put the Italians second in Group G with 20 points. Macedonia is 5th with 8 points. In their last game, Italy will meet third-placed Albania at the Olympic stadium on October 9, while Macedonia will face Liechtenstein.
