World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Belgium beats Gibraltar 9-0
LIèGE, Aug. 31, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Belgium defeated Gibraltar by a big score of 9-0 (halftime: 6-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Liège.
Meunier and Romelu Lukaku scored tripple goals
Belgium dominated the first half thanks to goals from Mertens ('16), Meunier ('18), Lukaku ('21, '38), Witsel ('27) and Hazard ('45). Leading 6-0 at the break, the Belgians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Meunier '61, '67 and Lukaku '82/penalty).
The result put the Belgians top of Group H with 19 points. Gibraltar is bottom with no points. In their next game, Belgium will meet second-placed Greece at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne on September 3, while Gibraltar will face Bosnia and Herzegovina.
