World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Croatia beats Iceland 2-0
ZAGREB, Nov. 12, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Croatia defeated Iceland by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb.
Marcelo Brozović scored dual goals
Croatia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Marcelo Brozović in the 15th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Croatians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Brozović in stoppage time.
The result put the Croatians top of Group I with 10 points. Iceland is second with 7 points. In their next game, Croatia will meet third-placed Ukraine at the Maksimir Stadium on March 24, while Iceland will face Kosovo.
