TAMPERE, Jun. 11, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Ukraine defeated Finland by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night at the Tampere Stadium.
45 minutes of play and neither the Ukrainians nor the Finnishs have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Konoplyanka ('51) and Besyedin ('75).
The result put the Ukrainians second in Group I with 11 points. Finland is 5th with one point. In their next game, Ukraine will meet Turkey at the Tampere Stadium on September 2, while Finland will face Iceland.
