World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Iceland beats Ukraine 2-0
REYKJAVíK, Sep. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Ukraine by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Laugardalsvöllur in Reykjavík.
Gylfi Sigurðsson scored dual goals
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with two goals by Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurðsson at '47 and '66.
The result put the Icelander second in Group I with 16 points. Ukraine is fourth with 14 points. In their next game, Iceland will meet third-placed Turkey at the Laugardalsvöllur on October 6, while Ukraine will face Kosovo.
