World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Iceland beats Turkey 3-0
ESKIşEHIR, Oct. 6, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Turkey by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the New Eskişehir Stadium.
Iceland dominated the first half thanks to goals from Guðmundsson ('32) and Bjarnason ('39). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Icelanders further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Árnason in the 50th minute.
The result put the Icelander top of Group I with 19 points. Turkey is fourth with 14 points. In their last game, Iceland will meet Kosovo at the New Eskişehir Stadium on October 9, while Turkey will face Finland.
