ZAGREB, Nov. 9, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (European Qualifiers) : Croatia defeated Greece by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 3-1), in the first leg of a World Cup qualifier tie on Thursday night at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb.

Croatia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Modrić ('13 on penalty), N. Kalinić ('19) and Perisic ('33). Leading 3-1 at the break, the Croatians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Kramarić in the 49th minute.

The second leg between Croatia and Greece will be played on Sunday November 12, 2017 (kick-off: 20:45) in Athens.
