FSV Frankfurt forward Zlatko Dedič opened the score in the 5th minute, before seeing FC Kaiserslautern catch up in the 24th minute thanks to Alexander Ring. 1-1 at half time. Die roten Teufel eventually won the game in the second period with three more goals by Colak ('79, '87) and Mockenhaupt ('90).
