DOHA, Dec. 2, 1988 (AMP) — Qatar 1988 : Iran defeated Qatar by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Asian Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon.

The result put the Iranians top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Iran will meet Japan on December 4, while Qatar will face the United Arab Emirates.
