DOHA, Dec. 2, 1988 (AMP) — Qatar 1988 : Saudi Arabia defeated Syria by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a Asian Cup group stage game on Friday night.

The result put the Saudi top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Saudi Arabia will meet Kuwait on December 5, while Syria will face China.
