SALVADOR, Jul. 1, 1989 (AMP) — Brazil 1989 : Paraguay defeated Peru by a score of 5-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a Copa América group stage game on Saturday.

The result put the Paraguayans top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Paraguay will meet Colombia on July 5, while Peru will face Brazil.
