HWASEONG, Jul. 25, 2013 (AMP) — South Korea 2013 : Japan defeated Australia by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-0), in a East Asian Cup final round game (Final Tournament) on Thursday night at the Hwaseong Sports Complex in Hwaseong.
Yuya Osako scored dual goals
Japan dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Manabu Saitō in the 26th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Japaneses further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Osako '56, '79).
The result put the Japanese top of the group with 4 points. Australia is bottom with one point. In their last game, Japan will meet third-placed South Korea at the Hwaseong Sports Complex on July 28, while Australia will face China.
