Primeira Liga (Week 3) : Sporting beats Académica 3-1
PORTUGAL, Aug. 30, 2015 (AMP) — Primeira Liga / Match day 3: After their 1-1 draw against Paços de Ferreira on August 22, the Sportinguistas returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Académica Coimbra this Sunday.
Sporting Lisbon dominated the first half thanks to goals from Mane Carlos ('6) and Slimani ('24). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Sportinguistas further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Aquilani on penalty with just 7 minutes remaining in regulation time.
Sporting Clube de Portugal climbed to second place with 7 points from 3 games, tie on points with FC Porto.
