DUBLIN, Oct. 3, 1956 (AMP) — Sweden 58 (European Qualifiers) : Ireland defeated Denmark by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 1958 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday.

The result put the Irish top of Group 1 with 2 points. In their next game, Ireland will meet England on May 8, while Denmark will face England.
