MONTERREY, Jun. 17, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Germany qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1986 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 win against Morocco (halftime: 0-0) on Tuesday afternoon at the Monterrey in Monterrey.
Morocco made the Germans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by German midfielder Lothar Matthäus with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
