MEXICO CITY, Jun. 18, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : England qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1986 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 win against Paraguay (halftime: 1-0) on Wednesday at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Gary Lineker scored dual goals
England dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Gary Lineker in the 31st minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Englishs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Beardsley '56 and Lineker '73).
