MONTERREY, Jun. 21, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Germany reached the semifinals of the 1986 FIFA World Cup after defeating Mexico 4-1 on penalties (after a 0-0 draw) on Saturday afternoon at the Monterrey in Monterrey.
The score was still nil-all at the end of the regulation game time and overtime. The Germans finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 4-1.
