Argentina beats Germany 3-2 to win 1986 World Cup
MEXICO CITY, Jun. 29, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Argentina claimed a second FIFA World Cup crown with a 3-2 win against Germany (halftime: 1-0) in the final on Sunday at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender José Luis Brown in the 23rd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Valdano '55 and Burruchaga '83).
