Netherlands beats Yugoslavia to reach World Cup quarterfinals
TOULOUSE, Jun. 29, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : The Netherlands qualified to the quarter-finals of the 1998 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Yugoslavia (halftime: 1-0) on Monday night at the Toulouse Stadium.
The Netherlands dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Dennis Bergkamp in the 38th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Dutchs further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Davids in stoppage time.
