Croatia beats Germany to advance to World Cup semifinals
LYON, Jul. 4, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Croatia reached the semifinals of the 1998 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 win against Germany (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday night at the Stade de Gerland in Lyon.
Croatia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Robert Jarni in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Croatians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Vlaović '80 and Šuker '85).
