Brazil beats Netherlands in shoot out to reach World Cup final
MARSEILLE, Jul. 7, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Brazil reached the FIFA World Cup final for the fifth time in their history after defeating the Netherlands 4-2 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Tuesday night at the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Ronaldo ('46) for Brazil and Patrick Kluivert ('87) for the Netherlands. The Brazilians finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 4-2.
