SAINT DENIS, Jul. 12, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : France claimed the FIFA World Cup crown with a 3-0 win against Brazil (halftime: 2-0) in the final on Sunday night at the Stade de France in Saint Denis.
Zinédine Zidane scored dual goals
France dominated the first half thanks to goals from Zidane ('27, '45). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Frenchs further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Petit in stoppage time.
