POINTE NOIRE, Apr. 6, 1997 (AMP) — France 98 (African Qualifiers) : Congo-Brazzaville defeated South Africa by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The result put the Congolese top of Group 3 with 7 points. South Africa is second with 4 points. In their next game, Congo-Brazzaville will meet Zambia on April 27, while South Africa will face DR Congo.
