LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8, 1996 (AMP) — France 98 (American Qualifiers) : Guatemala defeated Trinidad and Tobago by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The result put the Guatemalans third in Group 1 with 7 points. Trinidad and Tobago is bottom with one point. In their last game, Guatemala will meet group leaders the United States on December 21, while Trinidad and Tobago will face Costa Rica.
