SAN CRISTOBAL, Dec. 15, 1996 (AMP) — France 98 (South American Qualifiers) : Colombia defeated Venezuela by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Sunday afternoon.
The result put the Colombians top of the group with 17 points. Venezuela is bottom with one point. In their next game, Colombia will meet Argentina on February 12, while Venezuela will face Paraguay.
