BARINAS, Aug. 20, 1997 (AMP) — France 98 (South American Qualifiers) : Peru defeated Venezuela by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Wednesday night.
The result put the Peruvians 5th in the group with 19 points. Venezuela is bottom with 3 points. In their next game, Peru will meet Uruguay on September 10, while Venezuela will face Colombia.
