VALENCIA, Dec. 14, 1996 (AMP) — France 98 (European Qualifiers) : Spain defeated Yugoslavia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night.

The result put the Yugoslav top of Group 6 with 12 points. Spain is second with 10 points. In their next game, Yugoslavia will meet Czech republic on April 2, while Spain will face Malta.
