BELGRADE, Jun. 8, 1997 (AMP) — France 98 (European Qualifiers) : Yugoslavia defeated Slovakia by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night.
The result put the Yugoslav top of Group 6 with 19 points. Slovakia is third with 12 points. In their next game, Yugoslavia will meet third-placed Slovakia on September 10, while Slovakia will face Czech republic.
