BUCHAREST, Aug. 20, 1997 (AMP) — France 98 (European Qualifiers) : Romania defeated Macedonia by a score of 4-2 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 1998 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.
The result put the Romanians top of Group 8 with 21 points. Macedonia is second with 13 points. In their next game, Romania will meet Liechtenstein on September 6, while Macedonia will face Lithuania.
