COFFS HARBOUR, Apr. 11, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (Oceania Qualifiers) : Australia defeated the American Samoa by a big score of 31-0 (halftime: 16-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.

The result put the Australians top of Group 1 with 6 points. The American Samoa is bottom with no points. In their next game, Australia will meet second-placed the Fiji on April 14, while the American Samoa will face Tonga.
