ABU DHABI, Sep. 3, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : The United Arab Emirates defeated Malaysia by a big score of 10-0 (halftime: 7-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Ahmed Khalil served up another goal feast
The United Arab Emirates dominated the first half thanks to goals from Salem ('16), Mabkhout ('22, '33), Khalil ('24, '29), Fardan ('25) and Ahmed ('37). Leading 7-0 at the break, the Emiratis further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Khalil '70, '78 and Mabkhout '76).
The result put the Emirati top of Group A with 6 points. Malaysia is bottom with one point. In their next game, the United Arab Emirates will meet second-placed Palestine at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on September 8, while Malaysia will face Saudi Arabia.
