KOWLOON, Jun. 16, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Hong Kong defeated the Maldives by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Mong Kok Stadium in Kowloon.
The Maldives made Hong Kong doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Xu Deshuai ('63) and Lam Ka Wai ('67).
The result put Hong Kong top of Group C with 6 points. The Maldives is fourth with no points. In their next game, Hong Kong will meet second-placed China at the Mong Kok Stadium on September 3, while the Maldives will face China.
