World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : China defeats Maldives 3-0
MALé, Sep. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : China defeated the Maldives by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Rasmee Dhandu National Stadium in Malé.
Yu Dabao scored dual goals
China dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Yu Dabao in the 8th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Chineses further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Yu Dabao '57 and Zhang Linpeng '66).
The result put the Chinese top of Group C with 7 points. The Maldives is fourth with no points. In their next game, China will meet third-placed Qatar at the Rasmee Dhandu National Stadium on October 8, while the Maldives will face Bhutan.
