World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Maldives beats Bhutan 4-3
THIMPHU, Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : The Maldives defeated Bhutan by a score of 4-3 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu.
Ashfaq scored tripple goals
The Maldives dominated the first half thanks to goals from Nashid ('11) and Ashfaq ('23, '33). Leading 3-0 at the break, the Maldivians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Ashfaq on penalty in the 57th minute.
The result put the Maldivians fourth in Group C with 3 points. Bhutan is bottom with no points. In their next game, the Maldives will meet group leaders Qatar at the Changlimithang Stadium on October 13, while Bhutan will face Hong Kong.
