World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Iran beats Turkmenistan 3-1
TEHRAN, Nov. 12, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iran defeated Turkmenistan by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday afternoon at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
Iran dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Pouraliganji in the 6th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Iranians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Ezatolahi '64 and Dejagah '83/penalty).
The result put the Iranians top of Group D with 11 points. Turkmenistan is third with 7 points. In their next game, Iran will meet Guam at the Azadi Stadium on November 17, while Turkmenistan will face Oman.
