World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Turkmenistan beats Oman 2-1
ASHGABAT, Nov. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Turkmenistan defeated Oman by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Köpetdag Stadium in Ashgabat.
Turkmenistan dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Geworkýan in the 40th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Turkmens further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Muhadow in the 67th minute.
The result put the Omani second in Group D with 11 points. Turkmenistan is third with 10 points. In their next game, Oman will meet Guam at the Köpetdag Stadium on March 24, while Turkmenistan will face India.
