PHNOM PENH, Jun. 16, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Afghanistan defeated Cambodia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium.
45 minutes of play and neither the Afghans nor the Cambodians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Zazai with just 4 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Afghans third in Group E with 3 points. Cambodia is bottom with no points. In their next game, Afghanistan will meet second-placed Japan at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium on September 8, while Cambodia will face Japan.
