World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Japan beats Afghanistan 6-0
TEHRAN, Sep. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Japan defeated Afghanistan by a big score of 6-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday afternoon at the Azadi Stadium in Tehran.
Shinji Kagawa and Shinji Okazaki scored dual goals
Japan dominated the first half thanks to goals from Kagawa ('10) and Morishige ('35). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Japaneses further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Kagawa '50, Okazaki '57, '60 and Honda '74).
The result put the Japanese top of Group E with 7 points. Afghanistan is fourth with 3 points. In their next game, Japan will meet second-placed Syria at the Azadi Stadium on October 8, while Afghanistan will face Singapore.
