SINGAPORE, Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Singapore defeated Afghanistan by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night at the National Stadium in Singapore.
Afghanistan made the Singaporeans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Khairul in the 72nd minute.
The result put the Singaporeans third in Group E with 7 points. Afghanistan is fourth with 3 points. In their next game, Singapore will meet Cambodia at the National Stadium on October 13, while Afghanistan will face Syria.
