SEEB, Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Japan defeated Syria by a score of 3-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday afternoon at the Seeb Stadium.
45 minutes of play and neither the Japaneses nor the Syrians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Honda ('55 on penalty), Okazaki ('70) and Usami ('88).
The result put the Japanese top of Group E with 10 points. Syria is second with 9 points. In their next game, Japan will meet third-placed Singapore at the Seeb Stadium on November 12, while Syria will face Afghanistan.
