World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Syria beats Afghanistan 5-2
SEEB, Oct. 13, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Syria defeated Afghanistan by a score of 5-2 (halftime: 3-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Seeb Stadium.
Omari scored tripple goals
Syria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Omari ('9, '21) and Maowas ('32). Leading 3-1 at the break, the Syrians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Omari '83 and Maowas '90).
The result put the Syrians top of Group E with 12 points. Afghanistan is fourth with 3 points. In their next game, Syria will meet third-placed Singapore at the Seeb Stadium on November 17, while Afghanistan will face Cambodia.
