TEHRAN, Sep. 3, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iraq defeated Taiwan by a big score of 5-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Thursday afternoon at the Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium in Tehran.

Iraq dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Adnan in the 37th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Iraqis further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Hosni '59, Yasin '80, Mahmoud '88 and Meram '90/penalty).

The result put the Iraqi second in Group F with 3 points. Taiwan is bottom with no points. In their next game, Iraq will meet group leaders Thailand at the Shahid Dastgerdi Stadium on September 8, while Taiwan will face Vietnam.
